Where's Goldilocks?

Here are three little Anime Bear cubs that I finished this week.

I needed a little break from bears so I made a beautifully soft Heffalump from luxury fur fabric.

She's very huggable.

Bear Fair Norwich

The Bear Fair in Norwich, organised by The Bear Shop was a great day out.

It was really well attended with lots of collectors turning up and enjoying their day, and for those who couldn't make it on the day, The Bear Shop in both Colchester and Norwich are honouring the special discount vouchers for purchases in the shops.

Robert had arranged a buffet lunch for all the exhibitors and he and his staff had put an enormous amount of work in to organising the show and ensuring that it was run smoothly and professionally. I took my old bear Alice to be identified and found out that she is German from the early nineteen hundreds, possibly 1920. So she is a very old girl indeed!

It was great to meet so many friendly and talented Bear Artists and I took pictures of some of the stalls.

Norwich Bear fair

All these pictures of bears and my little chihuahua is feeling left out, so here is my darling little Prinny! His tongue is usually hanging out like that, he has no teeth that side to hold it in place.

He still manages to eat very well and has no trouble trying to nip the postman

or any one else that gets too near to me :-)

Tomorrow is the Norwich Bear Fair , organised by The Bear Shop.

It will be held in Blackfriars Hall which is next to St. Andrew's hall in Norwich.

11am - 4pm

Its a beautiful venue with a great coffee shop/snack bar with vegetarian options.

All your favourites will be there including Admiral Bear Supplies,

Laurie Lou Bears, my own Poppy Bears,

Charlie Bears, Steiff and many others.

Free gifts and money saving vouchers , plus tombola and a chance to win a bear.

So a great day out, whether you collect Bears or want to

stock up on your bear making materials.

Flori Flip Flop - Anime bear

This is Flori Flip Flop.

She is only 4 inches tall and is wearing a silver flip -flop around her neck on a ribbon.

Her nose is a vintage silver button.

She is the second of my Poppy Bears Lollipop series.

Sandringham Craft Show

We went to the Sandringham Craft Fair last week, it was a good day out. I bought a lovely little panda from Ruben Bears ( nice to meet you Bren! ) and some fabulous hand cream. It was meant for fishermen but the lady selling it assured me it was great for hand sewers too :-) David tasted the cheeses and bought lots but bemoaned the fact that his favourite Chinese noodle food van wasnt there! I'm sure he only comes with me to craft shows for the pancake rolls!!!

We werent exhibiting at this Sandringham Show but will be taking the Poppy Bears to the next two this year.

The weather in Suffolk is glorious, in fact yesterday was quite hot and even though its only 8am the sun is out and it looks to be another beautiful day. I am making a Heffalump and have been updating my website which you can see here: http://www.poppybears.co.uk/

Hetti Handbag - Anime Bear

Hi, this is Hetti Handbag, so named because she is wearing a solid silver handbag charm around her neck.

Hetti is the first of a series called " Lollipops" that I am working on.

She is so bright and was great fun to make.

Best Boy Billie!

This is Best Boy Billie. He is just under 4 inches standing and heavily weighted with steel shot.

Such a tiny bear takes a lot of time to sew.

Turning the little limbs out after sewing is very fiddly but I really enjoy making this size.

Primitive Bears

Here are a few of my primitive style bears. I love this kind, they always look old and saggy and I like to give them a tummy roll!

Bears again :-)

It has been a strange day here in Suffolk, wavering from sun to rain all day.

I managed to get to a local Boot sale and have a look at all the stalls.

I managed to buy a great little deckchair and tea set for my bears. The deckchair needs recovering but I'll enjoy that!

Bears galore! and Heffalumps too!

Its seems like ages since I wrote anything in my blog but I have been very busy making bears.

I have a Bear fair to go to on August 23rd in Norwich and decided that I needed to make some more little fellas pretty soon . I do need to be organised :-)

So here are just a few of my "babies". The little scruffy orphan at the top is primitive style and stands about 10 inches tall.

Hettie the Heffalump was my first elephant and quite a challenge to design the pattern.

Little Bobby is only 4 inches tall and is as cute as a button.

He'll be going on ebay soon - I'll post a link once he is on.

3 Little Bears!

These are just three of the bears that I have made recently.

The first one is called RORY, made from a lovely pinky brown mohair and is just about 8 inches sitting down. He has steel shot in his bottom to keep him firmly sat down!!
The second bear is a fabulous blonde and black flecked mohair, with a yellow embroidered nose and mouth. His name is RAZZLE, he stands about 12 inches tall and is heavily weighted in his feet so stands well.
The little chap at the end called HARRY is only 6 inches sitting down and has a needlefelted muzzle.
Not great photos but I hadn't quite finished the bears when I took the pics. The little chap still has his ears pinned on!

Maisie

I made Maisie's little pinafore dress from an old cotton blouse of mine.

I thought about ageing the dress but she looks sweet in crisp white cotton.

Here is Maisie; she is a 16 inch german mohair bear with an old look about her. She is only wearing her vintage key at the moment so now I need to make her some clothes!
Its a great feeling, putting all the pieces of a bear together but when you get to the head and put the ears, nose, eyes and mouth on, they take on their own personality.
